BA (Hons) (Healthcare Management) is a four-year part-time programme that explores public management in its various dimensions, focusing on the issues that affect health and hospital services. The provision and cost of healthcare are always topical issues, and students will address the key subjects that inform contemporary healthcare policy.
The first year of the course follows the same programme as the Certificate in Public Management. In the second year of the course, students follow the Diploma in Public Management (Healthcare Management) Programme.
There are three available tuition methods: distance education, lectures at the IPA in Dublin, and lectures at selected regional Institutes of Technology and other Regional Centres (where there are sufficient students to make up a class).
Students are assessed by means of assignments given through the year and final examinations.
This degree will be of special interest to those who work in the health and hospital services.
If you do not wish to take all the subjects in any year, you may study one, two or three on a phased basis.
The BA (Hons) in Public Management is accredited by the National University of Ireland (NUI), of which the IPA is a recognised college. It is positioned at level 8 of the National Qualifications Framework.
'A health professional's role must adapt to the every-changing health services' environment. The diverse curriculum offered by the IPA offers the educational opportunities to enable students pursue positions of leadership in any organisation'.
