The Programme

BA (Hons) (Administration of Justice) is a four-year part-time programme that explores public management in its various dimensions, focusing on the administration of justice in Ireland. Students receive instruction in the legal theories, principles and structures that underpin the administration of justice in Ireland.

The first year of the course follows the same programme as the Certificate in Public Management. In the second year of the course, students follow the Diploma in Public Management (Administration of Justice) Programme.

Learning Methods

There are three available tuition methods: distance education, lectures at the IPA in Dublin, and lectures at selected regional Institutes of Technology and other Regional Centres (where there are sufficient students to make up a class).

Assessment

Students are assessed by means of assignments given through the year and final examinations.

Audience

This degree will be of special interest to members of An Garda Síochána and to those who work in the security and legal areas.

Subject Accumulation

If you do not wish to take all the subjects in any year, you may study one, two or three on a phased basis.

Accreditation

The BA (Hons) is accredited by the National University of Ireland (NUI), of which the IPA is a recognised college.  It is positioned at level 8 of the National Qualifications Framework.
