The MA (Human Resource Management) is a two-year, part-time programme that focuses on key issues in the effective management of people in organisations. It seeks to raise the level of analysis in public sector human resource management and to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary in this vital area of organisational life.
This programme will be of particular interest to those who want to obtain some real expertise in the management of people and in the development of the HR function.
This programme takes two years. In the first year students study six public management subjects and receive the interim award of a Higher Diploma in Public Management. The second year is divided into semesters. In the first of these, students study three human resource management subjects. In the second, they write a minor dissertation on a specific human resource management topic. The MA is delivered through distance education, so students can live and work anywhere in Ireland and can remain in full-time employment. Students attend some weekend seminars at the IPA in Dublin.
