The IPA Governance Forum is pleased to announce this Special Half Day Event on Thursday 12 October 2017 (9.30 – 12.30) on the topic of Periodic Critical Reviews – Why, What and How?
In a new book from the IPA entitled: Towards the Era of Lifelong Learning: A History of Irish Education 1800-2016, John Coolahan (author), traces all facets of formal education as it developed over 200 years. However, unlike previous eras, the 1990s ushered in a new approach to educational policy, with two green papers and three white papers, all focused on policy reform.
Strategy: Effective Planning and Implementation is an IPA Governance Forum Briefing that will take place from 8.30am to 10.30am on Thursday, 21 September 2017 at the IPA.

The IPA Governance Forum is holding a special half day event Finance for Board Members of Public Bodies on Thursday, 6 July 2017. The board members of a public body must ensure that there is proper financial reporting and a system of internal financial control in place. While all board members are unlikely to be financial experts, they are collectively responsible for the production of the statutory accounts and meeting reporting and disclosure requirements. This half-day workshop will assist board members and other senior executives to understand the key concepts and issues which arise in the review of the financial reports and systems in a public interest body. This event is open to Governance Forum Members and others with an interest in the topic.
The IPA in partnership with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) and also in association with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) present this CPD Seminar for Professional Accountants in the Irish Public Sector on Thursday, 22 June 2017.
Local Authority Times Summer 2017
The IPA Governance Forum will hold a special one-day workshop for Board Members on Thursday, 25 May 2017 and Thursday, 8 June 2017. This one-day event will provide an overview of the roles and responsibilities of members of the boards of state, public and not for profit bodies. It will provide a briefing on the responsibilities of directors, issues which are of particular relevance to board members of public bodies as well as key characteristics of board effectiveness.
The IPA Governance Forum will be holding a briefing on the morning of Thursday, 4 May 2017 that will discuss the accountability of State Boards and factors that support board effectiveness.
