The Introduction to Internal Audit is a four-day programme, delivered over two modules. The course explores the role of the Internal Auditor, the audit process and the relationship of the internal auditor with management, the audit committee and external audit. The course is very participative with a high emphasis on the theoretical and practical aspects of auditing.  This course is a necessary building block before participatns in the Institute's more advanced Certificate in Audit Skills.

The Introduction to Internal Audit course is delivered over two x two day modules.  Classes take place at the Institute of Public Administration in Dublin and typically run from 9:30pm to 5:00pm on module dates.

Fees & Enrolment

Fee: The cost of this course is €1,620 for Corporate Members of the Institute, €1,800 for others. Fee includes course material, lunch and refreshments each day.

All IPA courses are subject to minimum participant numbers and bookings will typically close one week prior to the course start date.

Cancellation Policy: Please note, that in the event of a cancellation less than 48 working hours before the commencement of a course, a 15% cancellation fee will be charged.  Cancellation fee will also apply to non-arrivals on the day.

Students may wish to extend their internal audit studies with the IPA Certificate in Audit Skills programme that is accredited by CIPFA.

Who is this for?

The content of the course has been designed specifically for public sector internal auditors who are new to the function in their organisation. The course can be taken before participation in the Institute’s more advanced Certificate in Audit Skills.

Course Leader

Noreen Fahy, Senior Governance Specialist will lead a multi-disciplinary team comprised of IPA specialists and external experts in the field of Internal Audit. This course will include contributions from experienced Public Sector Internal Auditors.
