Whistleblowing and the Protected Disclosures Act 2014 is a half day workshop that will look at the legislation and guidance in the area of protected disclosures (i.e. the Protected Disclosures Act 2014 and the Guidance issued in March 2016 by the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform). There will be a focus on the procedures that are required to properly comply with the Act. The role and responsibilities of the recipient of protected disclosures will also be addressed.

Fee: The cost of this half-day workshop is €195 for Corporate Members of the Institute and €240 for Others.

The fee includes course materials, lunch and refreshments.

The Programme

Who is this for?

This workshop would be of interest to board members and senior employees who would have a role in ensuring compliance with the legislation and/or awareness raising on the legislation within the organisation. It would also be of interest to those persons nominated as recipients of protected disclosures.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will have:

  • A familiarity with and understanding of the Protected Disclosures Act and the Guidance.
  • An understanding of what a Protected Disclosures Policy should look like.
  • An understanding of the role and responsibilities of the recipient of protected disclosures. 
Course Content

The Whistleblowing and the Protected Disclosures Act 2014 workshop will cover the following areas:-

  • An overview of the legislation and guidance in the area.
  • The procedures required to be in place in relation to protected disclosures.
  • The role and responsibility of the recipient of protected disclosures and who should have that role.

Course Leader
