Whistleblowing and the Protected Disclosures Act 2014* is a half day workshop that will look at the legislation and guidance in the area of whistleblowing and protected disclosures, particularly in light of the changes to the regime brought by the Protected Disclosures (Amendment) Act 2022. There will be a focus on the procedures that are required to properly comply with the Acts. The role and responsibilities of the recipient of protected disclosures will also be addressed.

Whistleblowing and the Protected Disclosures Act 2014* (*as amended by the Protected Disclosures (amended) Act 2022) is a half day workshop that will be delivered in person at the Institute of Public Administration.  The workshop will run from 10:00am to 1:00pm.

Who is this for?

This workshop will be of interest to Board Members and senior employees who have a role in ensuring compliance with the legislation and/or awareness raising on the legislation within the organisation. It will also be of interest to those persons nominated as recipients of protected disclosures.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will have:

  • A familiarity with and understanding of the Protected Disclosures regime (as informed by the Protected Disclosures Act 2014 and the Protected Disclosures (Amendment) Act 2022 and guidance in the area).
  • An understanding of how the internal reporting channels and procedures should operate in an organisation.
  • An understanding of the role and responsibilities of the recipient of protected disclosures. 
Course Content

The Whistleblowing and the Protected Disclosures Act 2014 workshop will cover the following areas:-

  • An overview of the legislation (the Protected Disclosures Act 2014  and the Protected Disclosures (Amendment) Act 2022) and guidance in the area.
  • The procedures required to be in place in relation to protected disclosures.
  • The role and responsibility of the recipient of protected disclosures and who should have that role.
