This practical, applied programme exoplores ideas and practices essential to sucessful managmenet in today's healthcare organisations. It examines, among other things, the specific management and leadership challanges of the healthcare sector, how to lead innovation and change in complex healthcare contexts, and the management of healthcare budgets and financial resouurces.  It will prove valuable not only to those who have recently moved into a managment role or aspire to do so, but to more experienced managers who want to develop and formalise their skills and competencies in this area. Delivery Method

This one-year programme is delivered through blended learning. Students attend  scheduled in-person seminars at the IPA, study various online resources, and are supported by a series of online check-ins. 

Entry Requirements

Applicants who are over 21 may qualify for entry as a mature student. Applicants younger than 21 should meet IPA matriculation requirements.

Fees

The prgramme fee is €2,600, payable in one or two instalments. 

Employers and Fees

Where employers are paying fees, students, when enrolling, must provide a PO number and employer authorisation on the applicaiton form OR submit a letter from their employer confirming that fees will be paid directly. 

Students Paying their own Fees

  • Fees can be paid by:
  • Electronic transfer (contact the Undergraduate Office).
  • Debit/credit card (contact the Undergraduate Office).
  • Cheque (payable to the Institute of Public Administration).
  • Bank draft.

Note: Fees may increase slightly from year to year. Where this occurs, students will be charged the increased fee.

Progression

Students who successfully complete this programme can enter the second year of the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree programme on completion of a summer bridging programme.

It will attract  those who aspire to move into a managment role, those who have recently done so, and more experienced managers who wish to formalise and develop their management skills in the healthcare context. It covers topics such as understanding yourself as a healthcare manager, developing your competencies for managing people, teams and your wider service, and leading change and innovation in the healthcare setting. Applications are welcome from those in both clinical and non-clinical roles.

  • Leading Innovation and Change in Healthcare
Assessment

Students are assessed via assignments, an innovation project, and an examination.

Delivery

The programme is delivered via blended learning. Students attend five in-person seminars at the IPA, access supplementary online resources and are supported by a series of online check-ins. The in-person seminars are designed for high levels of reflection, interaction and networking. The online resources and check-ins via MS Teams promote continued student learning, reflection and engagement.
