This half-day course aims to provide concrete guidance to assist staff of Departments, State Bodies, Local Authorities and also Not-For-Profit organisations and Charities involved in the delivery of public services, in understanding the key challenges of embedding an appropriate culture and behaviour into the operation of their organisation.

Oversight of State Bodies: Oversight Agreements, Performance Delivery Agreements and Key Performance Indicators

The two-hour Specialist-Led online course aims to provide concrete guidance to assist staff of both parent Departments and State Bodies in the development of formal Oversight Agreements and Performance Delivery Agreements, with a strong emphasis on performance, including KPIs and monitoring. This course follows a strong practical approach, with class exercises and live samples used throughout the session to facilitate the transfer of operational know-how and of relevant lessons learned across the public sector system.

Periodic Critical Review for Non-Commercial State Bodies is a two hour specialist-led online course.  It will address the principle, rational and purpose underpinning Period Critical Reviews (PCRs), the role of State Bodies and Agencies and their interaction with parent and central Departments in the conduct of PCRs; approaches, guiding principles and methodologies for PCRs and key documentation and report required.

Effective management of risk is now recognised as a critical element of good governance and assurance arrangements in public service organisations and state agencies. Handling uncertainties and agreeing priorities has implications for strategic and business planning objectives, the relationship with stakeholders and also the resourcing, management and control of work programmes and activities.  Utilising the ISO risk management standard and building on our practical experience with client organisations, this specialist-led online course will give attendees a comprehensive introduction to this important governance and management process.

Strategy Development and Review for State Bodies and Public Sector Organisations is a two hour specialist-led online course which will provide participants with an understanding of strategy in a Public Sector context and what a 'good' strategy looks like.  The course will address key developments, happening at national level, in respect of performance reporting and their implications for state and public bodies. It will also consider how a governing body or Board can ensure that it affords appropriate time and attention to strategy and strategic issues as part of it's business.
