The Essentials of Public Service Innovation programme is intended to support managers and leaders in new ways of thinking about the delivery and design of services to the Irish public. The context within which we, as public servants, operate is increasingly intricate and challenging. Scarce resource, growing demands from diverse stakeholders, scrutiny of goal attainment, technological advances leading to the proliferation of data and novel solutions to problems, a radically altered working environment, changing demographic and behavioural patterns are all shaping our economy and society. The Public Service needs to be strategically placed to respond to these and other challenges in the short, medium and long term by engaging with innovation.
Under Our Public Service 2020, the framework for development and innovation in Ireland’s public service, the Irish Public Service is committed to supporting innovation and collaboration in how we operate and to maximise the skills and expertise that exist across our organisations.
A key objective of the Public Service Innovation Strategy, Making Innovation Real, is ensuring that service users are at the centre of everything we create and services we deliver. This one-day programme, delivered online over two half-days, Essentials of Public Service Innovation, is for those who wish to gain an understanding and overview of the innovation process, innovative behaviours and how to create the right climate for innovation, change and learning in an organisation.
Essentials of Public Service Innovation will cover the strategic context of innovation, support the development of a creative mind-set, review the implementation phase of innovation and recognise the skill-set required to manage and lead others to innovate across our Public Service.
