Delivery Method

For the academic year 2021-2022, the programme is delivered through a blended learning model. Via the IPA’s online learning portal, students will access comprehensive course material and attend scheduled live webinars.  Students will be able to virtually meet their fellow classmates on forums and exchange experiences and views.

Accessing and using the online content will be a straightforward affair; students will not anything beyond standard ICT skills. The IPA will provide comprehensive guidance and support.

Fees

€930 (including all matriculation and examination fees), payable in one or two instalments. 

Note: Fees may increase slightly from year to year. Where this occurs, students will be charged the increased fee.

Progression

Participants who successfully complete the Diploma programme may advance to year 3 of the Local Government stream of the IPA’s Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree, on completion of a bridging course.

There will also be a compulsory one-day seminar which will be concerned with developing the themes of inter-functional and authority-wide issues. It will provide an opportunity for participants to discuss topical areas of direct interest to their jobs. Topics covered include comparative local government, EU and local government, local government and economic and social and cultural development

Assessment

Assessment is continuous throughout the programme and consists of four project assignments and examination.

Programme Delivery and Application Form

For the academic year 2021-2022, programmes will generally be delivered through a blended learning model. Students will access a range of online resources, study textbooks, and attend interactive webinars in all modules.  For multi-year programmes, any seminar arrangements will be made in line with public health restrictions.
