Social Housing Fundamentals for Local Authorities is a two-day training programme for staff of local authorities who are involved in the provision of housing services. Each day will be divided into two sessions. Day One will deal with the context for the work of Local Authorities in the housing area. Day Two will look at the regulatory environment and at the statutory basis for the work of Local Authorities - and the directions and guidance issues for the implementation of different services and operations.

Delivery Method

The two-day course is divided into four sessions.  There are two sessions on the first day dealing with the context for the work of Local Authorities in the housing area.  The first session provides an overview of the policy framework for Local Authorities.  In the second session there is a briefing on the current state of the housing market in Ireland and on how this may impact the work of Local Authorities.

Day Two of the course looks at the regulatory environment and at the statutory basis for the work of Local Authorities - and the directions and guidance issues for the implementation of different services and operations.

Fee: The cost of this two day course is €350 per person. Fee includes course materials, lunch and refreshments.

Cancellation Policy: Please note, that in the event of a cancellation less than 48 working hours before the commencement of a course, a 15% cancellation fee will be charged.  Cancellation fee will also apply to non-arrivals on the day.

This course will be of particular interest and benefit to staff working in Local Authorities who involved in the provision of housing services. It is designed as an induction course for new staff and a refresher for those requiring an update on the fundamentals of social housing.

Assessment

Complete Impact Assessment Test

To complete the course, participants will be given an Impact Assessment Test.  This is an online multi-choice test to determine the assimilation of the course information.  It normally takes place about two weeks after the course and can be undertaken a number of times if necessary.
