Local Government

Identification of Training Needs

The identification if training needs process, which the Institute offers, is targeted at either the whole organisation or sections/departments within the local authority. It provides for a review of existing plans and practice. It includes interviewing key managers and staff. Workshops for staff are also a feature of the process. The ITN includes an analysis and report to the personnel officer, which will facilitate a structured approach to meeting raining needs.

European Information Service

The European Information Service is tailored service for local authorities, designed to provide early-warning on EU developments affecting local government in Ireland. Information on EU issues is circulated on a regular basis to designated officers within local authorities, and where necessary, to county and city Managers. A regular bulletin is distributed as a focus for highlighting new EU developments, particularly concerning funding opportunities and upcoming legislation with implications for local government. Detailed information on more specific issues can also be provided when required. Training seminars and in-house workshops on various EU issues are also delivered on a regular basis. Support is also provided to local town-twinning committees in making applications for EU support for exchanges.
