A qualified accountant, Nathy is a fellowship member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland (FCA) and a passed finalist with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). He holds an MBA from Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh and a Post Graduate Diploma in Critical Management from Lancaster University. He graduated from University College Galway with a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree.

Nathy is a senior lecturer and manager in the Whitaker School of Government and Management at the Institute of Public Administration specialising in Public Sector Financial Management, Governance, Audit and Assurance and related Accounting and Finance fields. He is a co-ordinator and supervisor on the Doctorate in Governance and is the programme director and a lecturer on the MEconSc in Policy Analysis, the Master of Arts – Public Sector Financial Management, and the Financial Management stream of the MSc in Business and Management. He also lectures on various undergraduate and postgraduate modules at the Institute, particularly the audit and assurance and finance subjects on the Bachelor of Business Studies programme.

He has lectured in Finance with Trinity College Dublin, worked as a lecturer for the Institute of Chartered Accountants and has been external examiner for a wide range of academic and professional programmes

Nathy has supervised a wide array of dissertations in the fields of Public Sector Financial Management and Audit and Assurance over the years, both nationally and internationally. His international experience also includes developing a Masters programmes in Public Management for the Governments of the Seychelles and Lesotho. He has also worked on development programmes overseas for both the Irish and British Governments and has undertaken project work for the World Bank and the European Commission in Cyprus and Bulgaria.
