Moving into management requires the learning of a new sets of skills in order to successfully transition from individual contributor to leader and manager.

This two day Moving into Management programme will help participants gain an understanding of the role of the manager and the skills and competencies required for effective leadership.  The course focus on key skills of people management such as motivation, communication, delegation, performance management and conflict resolution.

This course will be of benefit to staff who are newly recruited into a managerial or supervisory role or those who wish to acquire or refresh their day-to-day people management skills.

Moving into Management is a two day course (9:30 am - 4:30 pm each day) that will be facilitated by a subject matter expert. 

The IPA’s approach is to use a blend of short presentations, facilitated discussions, practical exercises, and individual and group reflection in an interactive way to facilitate the participants’ learning.

Please note that as this is an interactive programme of training with an emphasis on engagement and skill building, we limit the size of the group. 

If you wish to book places for a number of staff from a single organisation, we recommend that you contact training@ipa.ie in the first instance, as a tailored programme may be more suitable.

Fee: The cost of this two day course is €950 per person.

Cancellation Policy: Please note, that in the event of a cancellation less than 48 working hours before the commencement of a course, a 15% cancellation fee will be charged.  Cancellation fee will also apply to non-arrivals on the day.

The Moving into Management course will cover the following areas:

  • The role and responsibilities of the new Manager
  • Transitioning from individual contributor to Manager
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for managing teams
  • Delegating tasks, setting goals, and providing feedback to team members
  • Teambuilding and motivation
  • Managing performance and having courageous conversations
  • Understanding conflict styles and managing conflict within the team
