The IPA Governance Forum is holding a special half day event Finance for Board Members of Public Bodies on Thursday, 6 July 2017. The board members of a public body must ensure that there is proper financial reporting and a system of internal financial control in place. While all board members are unlikely to be financial experts, they are collectively responsible for the production of the statutory accounts and meeting reporting and disclosure requirements. This half-day workshop will assist board members and other senior executives to understand the key concepts and issues which arise in the review of the financial reports and systems in a public interest body. This event is open to Governance Forum Members and others with an interest in the topic.
The IPA in partnership with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) and also in association with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) present this CPD Seminar for Professional Accountants in the Irish Public Sector on Thursday, 22 June 2017.

This one-day event will provide an overview of the roles and responsibilities of members of the boards of state, public and not for profit bodies. It will provide a briefing on the responsibilities of directors, issues which are of particular relevance to board members of public bodies as well as key characteristics of board effectiveness.
