This Debt Management Programme is for staff working in Debt Management Units within the Local Government Sector.

Debt Management Units have been established in Irish Local Authorities to deal with many areas of debt management including debts associated with commercial rates, housing rents and housing loans. The focus of this programme centres around the management of debts associated with commercial rates.

In order to minimise time away from work for participants, the programme of four modules will be delivered over two x two days. 

The programme will enable participants to share their individual experiences in commercial rates arrears management and also will provide an opportunity to network with other Debt Management Practitioners.

  • Upon completion of the programme, participants will have an enhanced understanding in the complex area of Debt Management and will have developed their skills and techniques for Effective Debt /Credit Management and trigger alerts to higher levels of management.

Delivery Method

Each of the modules will involve a variety of training/ development methods including presentations from relevant and experienced facilitators, group exercises/ discussions etc.  Between the modules the participants will be required to do some form of group work that will be presented in class to embed their learning process.

Upon successful completion of attendance (a minimum of 3 days is required) of the programme each participant will receive a certificate from the Institute.

The programme will be delivered over four x one day modules as follows:

Module 1: 15 January 2018
Module 2: 16 January 2018
Module 3: 22 January 2018
Module 4: 23 January 2018

Key Facts

Places on the programme will be offered on a first come first served basis and there will be 25 places available on each of the programmes.  All bookings must be received in writing to secure a place.

To obtain the maximum benefit of this training we recommend attendance at all four modules, however participants can choose to attend only those of most relevance to them.  Please ensure you confirm the modules you will attend when booking online or using the booking form.

Fee: The full cost for this four-day programme is €920 per person, i.e. €230 per person per module.

All IPA courses are subject to minimum participant numbers and bookings will typically close one week prior to the course start date.

Cancellation Policy: Please note, that in the event of a cancellation less than 48 working hours before the commencement of a course, a 15% cancellation fee will be charged.  Cancellation fee will also apply to non-arrivals on the day.
